Cary Sherman promoted to replace departing CEO at recording industry group Mitch Bainwol has resigned as chairman and CEO of the $52M-revenue Recording Industry Association of America to become CEO of the $29M-revenue Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, both groups announced Aug. 8. Bainwol has led RIAA since 2003.
